CHFI is committed to helping to achieve poverty and hunger reduction, and environmental sustainability in Africa and Asia. We do this through Sustainable Modernization of Agriculture and Rural Transformation (SMART) that is guided by rural community mobilization and empowerment, diligence, self-help and cooperation. CHFI, thus, offers the rural poor and most underprivileged opportunities to help themselves, build self confidence and self-reliance, and work their way out of profound deprivation and hopelessness.
CHFI empowers and mobilizes the village communities. It strengthens local ownership over development processes and make sure that initiatives and interventions respond to the actual challenges and opportunities as perceived and experienced by the villagers.
CHFI uses a combination of selected successful rural community development models from Africa and the approach of Saemaul Undong, Asia’s most praised agricultural and rural development best practice from the Republic of South Korea.
